I've long been interested in America's history of military conflict, especially during World War II. After seeing the movie "Oppenheimer" and reading the book about our nation's covert mission to build an atomic weapon, I was inspired to pour this blank.
J. Robert Oppenheimer is so perfectly described as the American Prometheus. The original Prometheus was said to defy the gods by stealing fire and giving it to humans on earth. He was sentenced to eternal punishment according to Greek mythology, chained to a rock and his liver eaten each day by an eagle. In a parallel way, the "Father of the Atomic Bomb" and his cohorts in the Manhattan Project unleashed a new technology onto the world... One that, once released, could never be forgotten. The consequences of this new technology still terrify us to this day.
This blank is poured with ten carefully chosen colors using a special pour technique to create depth and intrigue. The colors are poured in segments, with patches of the most patriotic swirl of red, white, and blue available (American). In contrast, those colors are mixed with five others including fiery orange and yellow, aged gold, ash black, and a Greek villa off-white custom dye mix (Prometheus). Together, this mix tells the story of one of the most momentous and apocalyptic moments in world history.
